The Center for Jewish Teacher Education (CJTE) merges the proud
tradition of the BJE in serving the educational community
for over 80 years, and a commitment to bring the newest
and best practices in teacher education and adult Jewish
study to our students today. Join our learning community
and begin your own journey of Jewish discovery this year.
The CJTE represents an
effort to change and enhance teacher education in the Chicagoland area. Balancing innovation with practicality
and new methods with timeless subject matter, the Center
introduces a model of teacher education in which the
honored teacher is at the center of educational practice.
We are committed to the idea that if we want Jewish
schools to produce more powerful learning on the part of
students, we must offer more powerful learning
opportunities to teachers.
Whether you are currently a teacher in a day school,
supplementary school, or early childhood program, or you
are planning to become a teacher, the Center will provide
opportunities for you to learn in a collaborative,
supportive environment that leads to deepened Jewish
identity, more informed teaching, and refined pedagogic
practice. You are cordially invited:
- To join a
community of learners
- To enrich
your life as a Jew
- To become a
more knowledgeable educator
- To continue your personal
Jewish journey
